Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women worldwide. In 2022, a total of 662.301 new cases and 348.874 deaths were recorded. In Indonesia, there were 32.469 cases, including 174 cases in North Sumatra. The family plays a vital role in supporting the treatment of cancer patients through the implementation of five family health tasks as defined by Friedman. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of family health tasks in Javanese families with cervical cancer patients residing at the YKI shelter in Medan. A case study approach was applied to five Javanese families. The result indicated thar culturally-based educational interventions, particularly those incorporating Javanese values such as nrimo (acceptance) und gotong royong (mutual cooperation), were effective in increasing awareness, knowledge, and active participation in caregiving. The families showed improvements in identifying health problems, making health-related decisions. providing care, modifying their living environtment, and utilizing health services. Economic constraints and limited initial knowledge were the primary barriers. Nevertheless, culturally contextual education proved to enhance family resilience and adaptability in managing chronic illness. These findings emphasize the importance of cultural sensitivity in nursing interventions and family health promotion.en_US
