Strategi meningkatkan Perekonomian Masyarakat Lokal Melalui Pengembangan Desa Wisata Lumban Suhi Suhi Toruan di Kecamatan Pangururan

Abstract

Lumban Suhi Suhi Toruan Village in Pangururan District, Samosir Regency, holds great potential for natural and cultural tourism, highlighted by the beauty of Lake Toba and the traditional Batak Toba ulos weaving. However, this potential has not been fully optimized to improve community welfare. This study aims to identify tourism village development strategies that can boost the local economy, describe the roles of BUMDes, Pokdarwis, and customary institutions, and analyze the impacts of tourism development on residents' income. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation using purposive sampling. The findings show that strategies implemented include utilizing local potential to produce superior products such as ulos, strengthening MSMEs, enhancing human resources through entrepreneurship and digital marketing training, and empowering local institutions. The impact of developing this tourism village is evident from increased community income, the emergence of new jobs in tourism and creative sectors, and the preservation of Batak cultural heritage. The village is now becoming economically independent through professional tourism management by BUMDes and Pokdarwis.
