Abstract

Community Health Center (Puskesmas) is a health service facility that provide primary public health and individual health services, prioritizing promotive and preventive efforts to achieve the highest possible level of public health within their respective jurisdictions. Pharmaceutical services are an integral part of the community health centers system. Therefore, pharmacists need to be equipped with the skills, expertise, and knowledge to manage pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and BMHP (Prescription Drugs), as well as clinical pharmacy services at community health syystem through the professional pharmacist internship. Objective: The aim of this professional pharmacist internship was to enhance prospective pharmacists' understanding of the roles, functions, positions, and responsibilities of pharmacists in pharmaceutical work at community health center, therefore, enabling the pharmacists to perform pharmaceutical work professionally. Summary: Professional pharmacist internship activities carried out at the Medan Labuhan Community Health Center include the management of pharmaceutical supplies, medical devices and disposable medical materials as well as clinical services and health promotion carried out over a period of 23 days with a schedule from Monday to Friday at 08.00 – 15.00 am and Saturday at 08.00 – 13.30 am. Conclusion: After completed the professional pharmacist internship activity at the Medan Labuhan Community Health Center, prospective pharmacists have gained an understanding of the roles, functions and responsibilities of pharmacists in pharmaceutical work at the Community Health Center, specifically related to the management of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and BMHP procurement, as well as clinical services.
