dc.description.abstractIndonesia as a country with high seismic activity requires the planning of building structures that are able to withstand lateral forces due to earthquakes. One of the important components in a steel moment bearing frame system is the beam–column joint, where failure often starts from this part. This study analyzes the performance of extended end plate connections in Nitrile Workshop buildings with a manual calculation approach according to AISC standards and numerical analysis using IDEA StatiCa software based on finite element method. The main focus of the study includes the evaluation of shear strength, bolt tensile strength, moment capacity, and connection stiffness to lateral loads due to earthquakes modeled according to the provisions of SNI 1726:2019 and SNI 1727:2020. The research methodology was carried out by comparing the results of manual analysis using the prequalification moment connection design equation of the eight-bolt stiffened extended end-plate (8ES) with the results of numerical analysis from IDEA StatiCa. Numerical analysis results in the distribution of stress, plastic strain, joint deformation which is then compared with the theoretical capacity of manual calculations. The results show that both manual methods and numerical analysis provide relatively comparable results. The 8ES extended end plate joints meet the strength and rigidity criteria according to the standards, and have proven to be effective in increasing the moment capacity and ductility of steel structures in earthquake-prone areas. This research makes an important contribution to the planning of steel structure joints, and can be a practical reference for engineers in designing steel structure beam-column joints.en_US
