Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer affecting women and is a leading cause of cancer-related death in Indonesia. One of the widely used treatment methods is mastectomy, a surgical procedure involving the removal of the breast. While this procedure is life-saving, it often leads to psychological challenges, particularly regarding body image. Many women experience discomfort with their appearance, decreased self-esteem, and a lack of confidence after undergoing mastectomy. This study aims to evaluate the impact of using a mastectomy bra on the body image of women post-mastectomy.The research was conducted using a case study approach involving three clients who are members of the Breast Cancer Community in Medan. The intervention involved the provision of a mastectomy bra for three consecutive days, followed by observation of their psychological responses and level of self-acceptance. The results indicated that the use of the mastectomy bra helped the clients feel more comfortable with their physical appearance, enhanced their confidence, and facilitated better social adaptation. Overall, the mastectomy bra proved to be an effective non-pharmacological intervention in supporting the recovery of body image among post-mastectomy patients and can be considered as part of a holistic nursing approach within community settings.
