Coffee represents a leading comodities of the indonesia's agricultural subsector, significantly contributing to the nation's economic growth by being a source of foreign exchange reserves, employment opportunities, and as a source of income for 1,86 million coffee farmers in many regions. Indonesia has a great potential in coffee exports due to its advantages, including availability of spacious land area, supported natural conditions, and abundant labor. These advantages make Indonesia as the second-largest coffee land area and the fourth-largest country coffee producer in the world.
The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the effects of land area, total production, international coffee prices, and the rupiah exchange rate on Indonesia’s coffee exports from periode 1994–2023. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained from Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), Bank Indonesia, World Bank, dan Direktorat Jenderal Perkebunan Kementerian Pertanian Republik Indonesia. The study use time series data analysis with the multiple linear regression method and processed using SPSS version 27 software.
The results of this study show that partially total production and international coffee prices have a positive and significant effect on Indonesia’s coffee exports, while land area has a negative significant effect on Indonesia’s coffee exports, and rupiah exchange rate has a negative and insignificant effect on Indonesia’s coffee exports. Simultaneously, land area, total production, international coffee prices, and the rupiah exchange rate have a effect Indonesia’s coffee exports.
