Coronary artery disease (CAD), Cardiac rehabilitation is a structured program consisting of exercise and education, aimed at improving heart health, especially following surgery. One of the primary goals of cardiac rehabilitation is to restore patients to optimal conditions, improve cardiac functional capacity, and enhance quality of life. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a Phase II cardiac rehabilitation program in improving cardiac functional capacity and quality of life among post-CABG patients at Adam Malik Central General Hospital, Medan. The study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design. Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling technique, with 33 respondents Data analysis was performed using paired t-tests for heart rate (HR), systolic blood pressure, and diastolic blood pressure, while Wilcoxon tests were used for respiratory rate (RR), metabolic equivalents (MET's), oxygen saturation (SpOs), and quality of life variables. The majority of patients reported a moderate to good quality of life. The analysis showed no significant effect of the Phase II cardiac rehabilitation program on HR and RR (p>0.05), likely due to the widespread use of beta-blocker medications among respondents. However, statistical analysis indicated significant improvements both cardiac functional capacity and quality of life following the intervention (p< 0.05). This study confirms that the Phase II cardiac rehabilitation program is effective in enhancing cardiac functional capacity and quality of life in post-CABG patients. Therefore, it is recommended as a follow-up therapeutic strategy in the nursing care of post-CABG patients.en_US
