Poverty is a phenomenon that has not been and likely will never be eradicated
from the face of the Earth. It arises from disparities in abilities, opportunities, and access
to resources. One of the root causes of poverty is a significant increase in population. A
high population leads to a rapid growth in the labor force. This research is quantitative in nature, aiming to test the hypothesis that
population size has a positive effect on poverty. The findings show that every 1%
increase in population results in a 49% increase in poverty. The regression coefficient for
education is 0.82, indicating a positive relationship with poverty. This suggests that
every 1% increase in education corresponds to an 82% increase in poverty. Similarly, the
regression coefficient for unemployment is 0.68, suggesting that a 1% increase in
unemployment leads to a 68% increase in poverty.
