Abstract

Mental health issues in adolescents are important issues that often receive less attention, especially in terms of education and early detection. The implementation of this Senior Practicum aims to evaluate the implementation of the management of mental health nursing services and care through education and mental health detection in adolescents in order to prepare for healthy adolescent development. A case study approach was used for three adolescents whose assessment results showed that all clients had emotional and behavioral difficulty scores that were in the category indicating psychosocial barriers, based on the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ-25). The main diagnosis that was established was lack of knowledge about mental health. Interventions were carried out for 3x24 hours with a nursing education approach, observation, therapeutic communication, and emotional management technique training. The evaluation showed an increase in client understanding regarding emotion recognition, stress management, application of positive coping strategies, and the provision of systematic and age-appropriate mental health education that was proven to be effective in increasing adolescent readiness to face psychosocial transitions.
