Background: Hypertension is one of the main public health problems in Indonesia and has been nicknamed the silent killer. Compliance with medication use is one of the key factors in the success of hypertension therapy. Objective: Evaluate the relationship between knowledge and adherence to medication use on the success of therapy in outpatient hypertension patients at the Simpang Limun Health Center, Medan. Method: The type of research used is descriptive cross-sectional using primary data in the form of filling out questionnaires and secondary data from patient medical records. The questionnaires used include the Hypertension Knowledge Level Scale (HK-LS) for knowledge, Medication Adherence Rating Scale 5 (MARS-5) for adherence, and evaluation of outcome therapy. Results: A total of 109 respondents (respondent level 100%) with the largest number of respondents being women, namely 67 respondents (61.5%) aged 56-65 years 49 respondents, high school 45 respondents (41.3%), college 33 respondents (30.3%); retired/not working 36 respondents (33.0%); long suffering ≤ 5 years 60 respondents (60.0%) and the presence of comorbidities 85 respondents (78.0%). Research shows that the majority of respondents have a high level of knowledge about hypertension, but the level of treatment compliance is still low so that the majority of respondents also do not reach outcome therapy. Conclusion: Characteristics of the majority of respondents do not influence knowledge and compliance with the outcome therapy and do not influence the level of knowledge and compliance with the outcome therapy in hypertensive patients.en_US
