This study aims to describe the family conflict that occurs and the factors causing the family conflict in the novel Warung Bujang by Jessica Carmelia. This study was conducted to describe the conflict that occurs and to determine the factors causing the family conflict. The theoretical basis used is the sociology of literature. The research method used is descriptive qualitative by describing the results narratively and with content analysis techniques. The data used in this study are words and sentences sourced from the novel Warung Bujang by Jessica Carmelia. The results of this study indicate that there are family conflicts that occur in the novel Warung Bujang by Jessica Carmelia in the form of a. Parent-child conflict that occurs between a father and a child due to differences in perspective. b. Conflict with relatives (siblings) that occurs between cousins and grandfathers when managing a grocery store. c. Conflict with other people (social conflict) that occurs between the grocery store keeper and customers or the community around the Warung Bujang shop. d. Personal conflicts that occur in the personalities of several characters, one of whom is Nathan. In addition, factors causing family conflict in the novel Warung Bujang by Jessica Carmelia are also found in the form of a. Parental demands that occur between father and child due to parental expectations and authority. b. Distrust between cousins when running a grocery store. c. Mismatched behavior and goals when running a grocery store. d. Adaptability described by the lack of ability to adapt to each other and to the surrounding environment when running a grocery store. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there are conflicts, arguments, and incompatibilities between each other, which are called family conflicts.
