| dc.description.abstract | The role of librarians in enhancing the quality of library services, particularly within
higher education institutions such as Medan State Polytechnic. This study aims to
examine and analyze the functions of librarians in delivering optimal services to the
academic community. A qualitative research approach was employed, utilizing
observation, interviews, and document analysis of librarian activities at the Medan
State Polytechnic Library. The findings reveal that librarians serve not only as
collection managers but also as information facilitators, information literacy educators,
and change agents in the integration of information technology within the library.
Additionally, the quality of services is strongly influenced by the librarians’ professional
competencies, communication skills, and innovative approaches in addressing the
evolving information needs of users. The study recommends enhancing training and
professional development programs for librarians to support the transformation of the
library into a more modern, responsive, and user-centered environment. | en_US |
