    Abstract
Alexander Panjaitan, 210905030 (2025). Thesis Title : The Phenomenon of Fashion Scene Trends in the Social Status Identity of Students in the USU FISIP Environment This study examines the phenomenon of fashion scene trends as a medium of identity expression and a marker of social status among students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of North Sumatra (FISIP USU). The purpose of the study is to understand how students use fashion as a tool for constructing social identity in the context of a dynamic campus culture. The method used is a qualitative approach with descriptive ethnography, involving participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis. This approach allows researchers to explore subjective meanings and experiences of students in expressing identity through fashion scene trends. The results of the study indicate that fashion scene trends play an important role in the formation of students' social identities through social processes and group interactions. Cultural variability and power dynamics also influence fashion practices, where clothing becomes a symbol of resistance and gender expression. In addition, fashion scenes reflect the social structures and hierarchies that exist in the campus environment. The discussion of the study highlights the importance of understanding fashion as a complex and diverse medium of identity. This study provides recommendations for campuses to support the diversity of student identities and become a guide for students in expressing themselves critically and inclusively through fashion.
