cultivar Gajah with Gamma Ray Irradiation". Supervised by Dr. Dolly Sojuangan

Rice plants (Oryza sativa L.) are food crops that are the main staple food
of the Indonesian people. Drought often occurs in dry land, therefore, upland rice
has a weakness during the dry season or when there is no rain, upland rice plants
often experience drought stress. One of them is in implementing New Superior
Varieties Type. This study aims to determine the population performance of the
M1 generation of upland rice plants (Oryza sativa L.) of local cultivars resulting
from gamma ray irradiation. This study used a one single factor Randomized
Block Design (RBD) with gamma radiation dose treatment, namely: G0 = No
Radiation/control, G1 = 100 gray, G2 = 200 gray, G3 = 300 gray, G4 = 400 gray,
G5 = 500 gray, G6 = 600 gray, G7 = 700 gray, G8 = 800 gray, G9 = 900 gray
and G10 = 1000 gray. Data analysis using the Anova test. The result of the study
showed that gamma irradiation on upland rice seed had a significant effect on the
percentage or germination, percentage of death, plant height and root length.
From the results of the study, the LD50 value Gajah cultivar upland rice plants is
225,68 gray.
