The significant population growth indicates that the social dynamics and diversity
of the community continue to grow. The existence of a community activity center
is one of the efforts to accommodate diverse community activities. The a need for
a design strategy that can be used in designing this community center in order to
meet the needs and aspirations of the community effectively in the city of Medan.
In addition, the metaphorical architectural approach also needs to be considered
in order to visualize and represent the identity of the community in the city of
Medan. The methods for collecting data to obtain an appropriate design are field
observation, literature study, and spatial data analysis. This method is used to
provide an understanding of the use of space, social interaction, and physical
characteristics of buildings around the observation area and to select relevant
architectural projects from the design and implementation aspects of the project.
I also want to be able to understand land use patterns, population distribution, or
other related aspects. The application of the concept of outdoor space is also
needed to produce good unity by connecting the design side with a concept that
can accommodate outdoor and indoor activities. The application of the
metaphorical concept that combines traditional and modern elements offers a way
to celebrate the diversity and complexity of Medan's identity through a unique
blend of old and new architectural forms. The expansion of the meaning of these
architectural concepts, from the literal to the figurative, aims to create deeper
connections between space and its users, facilitating broader interpretations of
space, identity, and community.
