    Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health concern, particularly with the rising number of multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) cases that challenge the effectiveness of treatment. The Directly Observed Treatment Short-course (DOTS) strategy has become the primary approach for TB control; however, its success relies not only on medical factors but also on social support-particularly from family members. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family support and the treatment success of MDR and Non-MDR Pulmonary TB patients through the DOTS approach at the Tangkahan Durian Public Health Center, Langkat Regency. A descriptive correlational quantitative design was employed, using purposive sampling to select 50 respondents consisting of TB patients and their accompanying family members. The instrument used was a structured questionnaire that measured four types of family support: informational, emotional, instrumental, and appraisal. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test to identify relationships between variables. The results revealed a significant relationship between family support and treatment success for both MDR and Non-MDR TB patients (p<0.05). Emotional and instrumental support were the dominant factors influencing patients' adherence to long-term treatment. This study highlights the importance of active family involvement at every stage of TB treatment and underscores the need to integrate family roles within the DOTS strategy to enhance treatment effectiveness.
