    Abstract
Work motivation is one of the internal factors that significantly influences nurses’ performance in delivering healthcare services in hospitals. Sibuhuan Regional General Hospital, as a referral hospital in Padang Lawas Regency, faces challenges in ensuring the quality of care, particularly through the performance of nurses, which has not yet reached optimal standards. This study aimed to determine the relationship between work motivation and nurses' performance at Sibuhuan Regional General Hospital in 2025. This research employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sample included all 59 nurses at Sibuhuan Regional General Hospital, selected using total sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire adapted from Herzberg’s motivation theory to measure work motivation and from the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) to assess performance standards. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test at a 95% confidence level (α = 0,05). The results showed that the majority of nurses had moderate levels of work motivation and performance. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between work motivation and nurses’ performance at Sibuhuan Regional General Hospital Sibuhuan (p-value = 0,047 < 0,05). These findings indicate that nurses with higher work motivation tend to exhibit better performance in delivering nursing care. This aligns with Herzberg’s theory, which emphasizes the importance of motivational and hygiene factors in supporting optimal performance. Therefore, improving nurses’ work motivation can be a strategic step toward enhancing the quality of hospital services. It is recommended that hospital management pay greater attention to nurse motivation by providing incentives, recognition, and continuous professional development to encourage enthusiasm and professionalism in delivering nursing care
