Inventarisasi Jenis Kupu-Kupu di Arboretum Bekala Universitas Sumatera Utara
Inventory of Butterfly Species in the Bekala Arboretum, University of North Sumatera
Abstract
The Bekala Arboretum of the University of North Sumatra is a conservation area with the potential to support the preservation of biodiversity, including butterflies. This study aims to identify the diversity and activity of butterflies, measure environmental parameters (temperature, humidity, and light intensity), and identify butterfly host plants in the Bekala Arboretum. The method used was an exploratory survey with a line transect technique and insect netting, followed by species identification in the laboratory based on reference literature. The results showed that there were 13 butterfly species from 4 families, with the family Nymphalidae being the most dominant. Bekala has a medium level of butterfly diversity and is suitable to be designated as a conservation area as well as a center for education and biodiversity research.
