The decline in coffee productivity in Indonesia is partly due to low seedling
quality. Planting media and fertilizers play an important role in the seedling stage.
Goat Manure can improve soil fertility, while lamtoro leaf liquid organic fertilizer
contains nitrogen that supports vegetative growth. This study aims to assess the
effect of planting media and lamtoro leaf POC on the germination and growth of
Arabica coffee seedlings of Sigarar Utang variety. This research was conducted at
the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra,
with coordinates 3°33'24.9°N and 98°39'16.9°E, at an altitude of ±25 meters above
sea level. This research was conducted from February to June 2025. This study used
a factorial randomized design consisting of 2 treatment factors and 3 replications.
The first factor is the composition of planting media, soil: Rice Husk: Goat Manure
(4:1:1), Soil: Rice Husk: Goat Manure (1:4:1), Soil: Rice Husk: Goat Manure
(1:1:4) and the second factor is lamtoro POC concentration (0 ml, 25 ml, 50 ml, 75
ml). The results showed that the planting media had a significant effect on plant
height, chlorophyll index, and crown fresh weight. In contrast, lamtoro leaf POC
and its interaction with the growing media had no significant effect, possibly due to
the low nutrient content. Media dominated by Goat Manure proved to be more
effective in supporting the early growth of Arabica coffee seedlings.
