Pengelolaan Asuhan Keperawatan pada Lansia dengan Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 melalui Edukasi Perawatan Diri di Lingkungan IV Kelurahan Simpang Selayang, Kecamatan Medan Tuntungan

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is one of the diseases with the most patients in the world. Until now, Type 2 DM cannot be cured, therefore lifelong care is needed, so it is important to provide education to people with Type 2 DM about self-care. The intervention provided in the form of measuring the current blood sugar level and education using pocket book media containing material on the 7 pillars of diabetes mellitus self-care and questions and answers in a home visit. The activity involved 2 elderly people with Type 2 DM in the Neighborhood IV area, Medan Selayang Village, Medan Tuntungan District. The findings in this activity are that the elderly suffering from Type 2 DM do not perform effective self-care. The results of diabetes mellitus self-care education in the elderly showed changes in blood sugar levels and self-care. It is recommended that further activities carry out interventions with a longer duration and education in the form of direct practice.
