    Abstract
    Cellulose sources are quite abundant in Indonesia. In terms of quantity and development, Indonesia's abundant cellulose source is rice. As Indonesia's population grows, rice production also increases, resulting in an increase in the amount of solid waste produced, such as straw, bran, rice husks, and husks. Therefore, solid rice waste needs to be reused to produce more useful products, such as using rice straw as a raw material for cellulose to produce nitrocellulose using a nitration reaction. The preliminary design of this nitrocellulose plant, made from rice straw cellulose, is planned to have a production capacity of 4,000 tons/year and operate 300 days a year. The plant is planned to be located in Buntu Pane District, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The land area required for the plant is 42,230 m2. The results of the economic analysis of the Nitrocellulose Factory from rice straw cellulose are as follows: • Total Investment Capital = Rp. 625.293.951.146,92 • Total Production Cost = Rp. 867.516.346.836,37 • Sales Results = Rp. 1.123.091.460.000 • Net Profit = Rp. 192.137.803.336,77 • Profit Margin = 24% • Break Even Point = 30,01% • Return on Investment = 30,72% • Pay Out Time = 3,72 year • Return on Network = 51,21% • Internal Rate of Return = 29,53% Based on the results of the economic analysis, it can be concluded that the "Pre-Design of a Nitrocellulose Manufacturing Plant from Rice Straw Using a Nitric Acid Nitration Process and a Sulfuric Acid Catalyst with a Production Capacity of 4000 Tons/Year" is feasible to be established.
