The rapid development of urban areas has reduced water-absorbing land, leading to water stagnation and flooding. One innovative solution is the use of pervious concrete as a u-ditch cover to enhance water infiltration. However, this material is susceptible to chemical attacks, particularly from sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) originating from acid rain or industrial pollution. This study aims to evaluate the effect of H₂SO₄ solution on the mechanical properties of pervious concrete, including compressive strength, split tensile strength, and coarse aggregate abrasion resistance. The research employed an experimental approach with H₂SO₄ concentrations of 0%, 5%, and 10%. Porous concrete cylinder specimens were immersed for 28 days and then tested for compressive strength, split tensile strength, and aggregate abrasion. The results showed that H₂SO₄ exposure significantly degraded concrete performance. Under normal water immersion, the average compressive strength was 12.261 MPa, which decreased to 2.546 MPa at 5% H₂SO₄ and complete failure occurred at 10% H₂SO₄. Similarly, split tensile strength dropped from 1.415 MPa (normal water) to 0.778 MPa (5% H₂SO₄) and 0 MPa (10% H₂SO₄). Aggregate abrasion increased with H₂SO₄ concentration, recording 24.96% (normal water), 29.58% (5% H₂SO₄), and 34.2% (10% H₂SO₄). The produced U-ditch cover met dimensional standards with an infiltration rate of 2.658 × 10⁶ mm/hour. However, its resistance to sulfuric acid remains a challenge. This study recommends material modification or additional protective measures for applications in corrosive environments. The findings provide a reference for developing sustainable and durable drainage materials under extreme conditions.en_US
