    Abstract
Hypertension is a condition characterized by persistently elevated blood pressure in the arteries, forcing the heart to work harder to pump blood throughout the body. According to the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI), the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia decreased from 34.1% in 2018 to 30.8% in 2023. In North Sumatra Province, the prevalence of hypertension was recorded at 5.52%. This study aims to examine the relationship between various lifestyle risk factors and stress levels with the incidence of hypertension. An analytical design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. A non-probability sampling method using accidental sampling technique was applied, involving 96 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires covering physical activity, dietary patterns, sleep quality, smoking habits, alcohol consumption, and stress levels. The analysis revealed that variables such as physical activity, dietary patterns, sleep quality, smoking habits, alcohol consumption, and stress levels had p-values < 0.05, indicating a significant association between these factors and the occurrence of hypertension among the respondents. It is recommended that the public adopt a healthy diet, engage in regular physical activity, maintain good sleep quality, and manage stress effectively, particularly for individuals with a family history of hypertension.
