The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in Indonesia has increased from 10.9% in 2018 to 11.7% in 2023. Indonesia is the fifth country with the highest number of diabetes sufferers in the world. Self-esteem and social support play a crucial role in controlling type 2 diabetes, preventing complications and improving the quality of life of those with type 2 diabetes. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-esteem and social support with the quality of life of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. The study design is cross-sectional. Sampling using accidental sampling technique, from this technique obtained 234 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in North Labuhanbatu Regency as samples. The research instrument is a questionnaire. Bivariate data analysis using chi-square test and multivariate using multiple logistic regression. The results of the study showed a relationship between self-esteem p-value = 0.000 (p-value <0.05) and social support p-value = 0.000 (p-value <0.05) with the quality of life of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. The most dominant factor related to the quality of life of type 2 DM sufferers is the self-esteem variable. The conclusion is that type 2 DM sufferers who have good self-esteem and good social support have a 47.87% chance of achieving a good quality of life. It is hoped that the social environment will provide support to type 2 DM sufferers in managing their type 2 DM disease, while type 2 DM sufferers need to maintain self-esteem in managing their type 2 DM disease so that their quality of life is maintained.
