| dc.description.abstract | This study aims to determine the description of nationalism in rural communities in Dolok Plantation Village. Nationalism is an attitude of love for the country that is reflected in behavior and a positive view of the nation and state. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach involving 222 respondents from the community of Dolok Plantation Village. The data collection instrument used a nationalism scale based on Blank & Schmidt's (2003) theory modified in the local context. This scale measures three aspects of nationalism, namely generalized positive assessment of the nation, feelings of superiority, and nation-related tendencies of idealization. The results show that the majority of people have high (56.3%) and medium (24.33%) levels of nationalism, with only 19.37% of respondents in the low category. Each aspect of nationalism also shows an empirical average that is higher than the hypothetical, which indicates that rural communities have a strong nationalism attitude. However, there are also some people who show low nationalism, which requires further attention. Demographic factors such as age, gender, education, ethnicity and religion also show variations in nationalism levels. This research provides an understanding that even in the midst of modernization and globalization, rural communities have a strong sense of nationalism.
