Analysis of Factors Influencing Cassava Demand in North Sumatra Province
Abstract
Christine Natalia Nainggolan (190304107) with the thesis title is “ Analysis of
Factors Influencing Cassava Demand in North Sumatra Province “ (under the
guidance of Bapak Rahmanta, as Supervisor and Ibu Riantri Barus, as Examiner).
This research aims to analyze the influence of Cassava Price (LogX1), Rice Price
(LogX2), Population (LogX3), and Food Diversification Policy (X4) on Cassava
Demand in North Sumatra Province. The type of data used is secondary data over
a period of 6 years (2019-2024) sourced from the North Sumatra Food Security,
Agriculture and Horticulture Office, and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of
North Sumatra, processed with E-views 12 software. The analytical method used is
the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The FEM estimation results indicate that the
Cassava Price (LogX1) has a negative and insignificant effect on Cassava Demand
in North Sumatra Province, the Rice Price (LogX2) has a negative and significant
effect on Cassava Demand in North Sumatra Province, the Population (LogX3) has
a positive but insignificant effect on Cassava Demand in North Sumatra Province,
and the Food Diversification Policy (X4) has a positive and significant effect on
Cassava Demand in North Sumatra Province. Overall, the Cassava Price (LogX1),
Rice Price (LogX2), Population (LogX3), and Food Diversification Policy (X4)
have a significant effect on Cassava Demand in North Sumatra Province.
