dc.description.abstract | Glycerol monolaurate, also known as monolaurin, is a chemical compound with the
chemical formula C15H30O4 that is synthesized from lauric acid and glycerol.
Glycerol monolaurate can be used as an emulsifier, preservative, and antimicrobial
agent in the food industry. Additionally, glycerol monolaurate is also used in the
cosmetics and personal care industry as an emulsifier in the manufacture of creams,
lotions, and other emulsion products. The preliminary design of the glycerol
monolaurate manufacturing plant from raw materials glycerol and lauric acid is
designed with a production capacity of 22.000 tons/year and operates for 330 days
a year with the following process stages: raw material preparation, glycerol
monolaurate synthesis process, and glycerol monolaurate separation and
purification process. The plant location The plant location is planned to be in the
Sei Mangkei Industrial Area, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra. The number of
employees required is 205, with the business structure being a Limited Liability
Company Limited (PT) with a line and staff organizational structure. The economic
evaluation shows a total investment capital of Rp. 869.770.704.372; production
costs of Rp. 1.425.181.177.243; total sales of Rp. 1.766.664.269.728; net profit of
Rp. 211.168.104.610 with a profit margin of 18,363%; return on investment of
24,296% and return on network of 40,493% with internal rate of return of 26,620%.
The preliminary design of this factory is projected to reach the break-even point
(BEP) at 46,971% capacity with a return on investment (POT) of 4 years and 1
month. Based on the results of the economic analysis, the preliminary design of this
factory is feasible to be established. | en_US |
