dc.description.abstractThis research examines the history of the relocation of the Batak Toba community to Huta Pardomuan Village, Sayur Matinggi District, South Tapanuli Regency as well as the adaptation they did in the new environment. This study is important to understand the dynamics of ethnic migration and how cultural identity is maintained as well as transformed in a new social context. This research was conducted using a qualitative method with an ethnographic or historical approach to describe the experience or history of the relocation of Batak Toba in Hutapardomuan Village. This research also uses data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, document reviews as data collection. The results of this study show that the relocation of Batak Toba to Huta Pardomuan Village is influenced by driving factors and pulling factors. Adaptation is done through lifestyle adjustment, social interaction with local communities, as well as preserving traditions and kinship systems. This research confirms that the movement and adaptation of Batak Toba migrants is a dynamic process involving culture and society. This research is expected to develop further so that it attracts the interest of many people to further discuss the ethnic movement of Batak Toba in South Tapanuli.
