    Abstract
    This research aims to determine the intrinsic elements and forms of social conflict in the film Masam-Masam Manis by P. Ramlee. The theory used is structuralism theory pioneered by Burhan Nurgiyantoro and social conflict theory by Soerjono Soekanto. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques use documentation study techniques. The data sources used are the film Masam-Masam Manis by P. Ramlee and research data. The results of the research show that the theme in the film Masam-Masam Manis is "Conflict and the fate of life in the city with the challenges of the values being fought for". The plot used in this film is a forward plot, with several characters, namely Shaari who is depicted as an easily angry person, Norkiah who is brave, Rosnah who is firm, Rashid who is wise, Mrs. Norkiah who is funny, the principal who cares, Saleh and the friendly taxi driver. The setting of the film is a train station, Mak Minah's rented house, Shaari and Norkiah's room, the Copa Cabana club, the rented house hallway, Ulu Klang School, the post office, inside the bus, the state zoo, the principal's office, the highway, Kuala Lumpur city, the stadium, the state mosque, the dressing room, Shaari's house. The time setting in this film is morning, afternoon, evening, and dawn. The socio-cultural setting in this film is patriarchal culture, urban life, following western cultural life. The message conveyed in this film is never to lie, the importance of mutual understanding in neighborhood life, do not underestimate or insult other people's work just because of differences in social status, the importance of forgiving each other. The forms of social conflict encountered are interpersonal conflict that occurs due to differences in opinion, and other interests so that personal conflict occurs between the characters Shaari and Norkiah, Shaari and Rosnah, Shaari and Rashid. Meanwhile, conflict between social classes occurs because the character Shaari underestimates the profession of entertainers as low class which reflects discrimination based on social status.
