Abstract

JIHAN FIRA ARIANI with the title of Thesis is "The Influence of Social Factors on the Income of Chrysanthemum Cut Flower Farmers (Case Study: Desa Raya, Kecamatan Berastagi, Kabupaten Karo, Provinsi Sumatera Utara)". (Under the guidance of Bapak M. Jufri as a Supervisor and Ibu. Siti Khadijah Hidayati Nasution as an Examiner). Chrysanthemum flowers (Chrysanthemum sp.) are a type of superior flower that is popular in Indonesia. Chrysanthemums are often used as decoration and ornaments by decorators, florists, hotels, and restaurants. Not only as decoration, chrysanthemums can also be used to make herbal flower tea which is beneficial for health and relaxation. This study is to analyze the influence of social factors (age, education, family responsibilities, and farming experience) as X variables that affect the income of chrysanthemum flower farmers in Desa Raya, Kecamatan Berastagi, Kabupaten Karo as Y variable. Desa Raya is one of the areas that produces the most chrysanthemums and is the largest center for chrysanthemum commodities in North Sumatra. In this study the method used is a qualitative method by using multiple linear analysis as a test tool. The results of the study simultaneously showed that social factors had a significant influence on the income of chrysanthemum flower farmers. The results of the study simultaneously showed that social factors have a significant effect on the income of chrysanthemum farmers. The results of the analysis showed that simultaneously age, education level, family responsibilities, and farming experience have a significant effect on income. Partially, age and education do not have a significant effect on income, while family responsibilities and farming experience have a significant effect on income.
