Abstract

YOSE HELEN BR DAMANIK. Analysis of Faktors Affecting the Conversion of Rice Paddy Field into Oil Palm Plantations (Case Study L: Tinokkah Village, Sipispis Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai Regency). (Supervised by LILY FAUZIA as Academic Advisor and RULIANDA PURNOMO WIBOWO as Examiner). This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the conversion of rice paddy fields into oil palm plantations in Tinokah Village, Sipispis Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The data collection techniques used in this research included primary data obtained through questionnaires distributed to farmers and secondary data from relevant institutions. The data analysis method employed was multiple linear regression to determine the influence of independent variables on the dependent variable. The variables suspected to affect land conversion are income before land conversion, and land area before land conversion, production cost before land conversion, and area before land conversion. The analysis results show that income before land conversion, and production cost before land conversion does not have a significant effect on the area of land converted. In contrast, land area before conversion has a significant effect on the area and percent of land converted.
