    Abstract
This study aims to describe the types of imagery and their functions in the lyrics of the Malay songs Sri Mersing, Sri Siantan, Sri Tamiang, Sri Banang, and Sri Kedah using stylistic theory. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method. The data source was the lyrics of five Malay songs. Data collection techniques used included listening, recording, and classifying. The analysis techniques employed included identifying, presenting, and drawing conclusions from the five Malay songs. The results of the study revealed the presence of imagery and its functions. The imagery obtained included visual imagery, depicted through descriptions of natural settings/place names such as beaches and rice fields, as if seen with the naked eye. Auditory imagery depicted the sensation of directly hearing the fishermen's songs. Kinesthetic imagery depicted the sensation of witnessing the movements/gestures of Malay people in daily activities such as fishing and sowing seeds. Intellectual imagery is depicted in the Malay community, whose ability to cultivate the sea and rice fields, with intellectual abilities, provides a source of livelihood. The imagery employed here serves to reinforce the visualization of the Malay atmosphere, highlighting the natural beauty and culture of Malay regions such as Johor, the Anambas Islands, Aceh Tamiang, Gunung Banang, and Kedah. It also conveys Malay philosophical meaning and intellectual reflection through these five Malay songs.
