Electrical energy distribution plays an important role in supporting community
activities, so its management must be carried out properly. In practice, network expansion
activities, maintenance, and operational disruptions often cause voltage drops, voltage
profile instability, and increased power losses in the distribution system. In this thesis, a
network reconfiguration was carried out using the Simple Branch Exchange (SBE) method
applied to the UP3 Medan radial distribution system use software ETAP 12.6.0.
Simulations were carried out on four feeders, namely MBR.05, GL.07, GG.02, and KI.15.
The reconfiguration results showed an optimal configuration that was able to reduce power
losses while maintaining the voltage profile as an important parameter in the distribution
system, which was then analyzed through a power flow study. Comparison of the results
showed a significant reduction in power losses, for example in the MBR.05 feeder from
3,343.78 kW to 235.309 kW. In addition, the voltage profile increased from 15.654 kV (0.78
p.u.) to 18.96 kV (0.94 p.u.), and simulation results showed that all feeders met the SPLN
72:1987 standard. This confirms that the Simple Branch Exchange (SBE) method
effectively produces an optimal, simple, fast, and feasible network configuration for
application in power distribution systems.
