    Abstract
This study aims to analyze the forms of apologetic speech acts and the principle of politeness in the Chinese drama Love O2O episodes 1-30. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach based on Austin and Searle's speech act theory and Zhang's apology theory. Data were collected using observation and note-taking techniques from the dialogues in the drama, then analyzed to examine the illocutionary acts of apology and the types of apologies. The results of this study found 58 instances of apologies, and it was found that all of the apologies were in the form of expressive illocutionary acts. Of the 58 data points, 18 were found to be expressive illocutionary acts of apology. Of the 58 data points, there were two types of apologies, namely direct apologies, which amounted to 44 data points, and indirect apologies, which amounted to 14 data points. The data for sentences with the meaning of apology that actually mean apology in the drama Love O2O are 抱歉 (bàoqiàn), 不好意思 (bùhǎoyìsī), 对不起 (duìbuqǐ), 恕 (shù), 赔罪 (péizuì) and 原谅 (yuánliàng). The use of apologies in this drama is greatly influenced by the social context, the relationships between characters, and the purpose of communication. These findings show that there are several ways to express apologies in the drama Love O2O. This study is expected to be a reference in pragmatic studies, especially in the study of speech acts and politeness in Mandarin.
