This study aims to identify the spatial distribution of squid (Uroteuthis sp.) abundance in the Malacca Strait using satellite imagery technology. Squid is a high-value fishery resource, making its distribution mapping crucial for sustainable fisheries management. Oceanographic parameters such as sea surface temperature (SST), chlorophyll-a, and salinity were obtained from Aqua-MODIS satellite imagery and processed using SeaDAS and ArcGIS software. The study was conducted from January to March 2024 during the western monsoon and transitional seasons. Squid catch data were collected directly with local fishermen and analyzed using linear regression against oceanographic parameters. The results showed a positive correlation between squid abundance and chlorophyll-a concentration, as well as SST within the optimal range of 24–26°C. The spatial distribution also indicated a southward shift in squid presence following seasonal changes. Species composition varied monthly between Uroteuthis chinensis and Uroteuthis duvaucelii, with a notable increase in U. duvaucelii catches in March. This research produced potential squid fishing zone maps and provides a foundation for the development of a real-time geographic information system (GIS) for squid resource monitoring. The findings are expected to support more efficient fishing practices, time optimization, and marine ecosystem sustainability.en_US
