| dc.description.abstract | The Old Guard (2020) is a fantasy action film adapted from a comic by Greg Rucka and Leonardo Fernandez. This research discusses Nile's journey and the character development of the main and supporting characters in The Old Guard movie. The purpose of this study is to discover the stages of Nile’s Hero’s Journey and the archetypal development of each main and supporting character, using Christopher Vogler’s theory of the Hero’s Journey and character archetypes. The writer conducted the research using a qualitative descriptive method. The data were obtained from the film transcript, screenshots of important scenes, and supported by relevant literature. The findings show that Nile's journey follows the twelve stages of the Hero’s Journey, and the characters in the movie represent several archetypal roles such as the Hero, Mentor, Threshold Guardian, Shadow, and others. Through this analysis, the study concludes that The Old Guard not only presents a modern hero’s transformation but also reflects mythic character patterns as outlined in Vogler’s framework. | en_US |
