Aek Sibundong River is located in Dolok Sanggul District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra Province. The river is a vital water resource for the local community, particularly in supporting irrigation, agriculture, livestock, and other activities. However, industrial activities such as tofu factories and slaughterhouses in the surrounding area have the potential to degrade the water quality of Aek Sibundong River. The objective of this study is to map water quality using Geographic Information System (GIS) application and analyze the water quality status of the river. The method used to determine the river water quality is the Weighted Arithmetic Water Quality Index (WAWQI) method. Based on the calculation results using the WAWQI method, the water quality status of Aek Sibundong River is classified as Heavily Polluted. The calculation results of WAWQI values are 51.43 for point 1, 80.9 for point 2, 121.6 for point 3, 109.64 for point 4, 122,45 for point 5 and 237.89 for point 6.
