dc.description.abstractTermites are a type of wood-destroying bug that causes severe damage to all things composed of wood or containing cellulose, such as particle boards created from organic waste. It is claimed that providing a mixture such as glue or one that can protect the board from termite attacks can prevent board deterioration. Fibreglass possesses great tensile strength, is resistant to heat and fire, does not burn or support combustion, is unaffected by chemicals, fungi, or bacteria, is resistant to moisture, does not decay, and is heat resistant. The goal of this study was to test the resilience of particle boards reinforced with fibreglass to assaults from subterranean termites (Coptotermes curvignathus). This study was done from August to September 2023, with particle board durability testing taking place from October 2023 to January 2024 at the Arboretum of the Faculty of Forestry, University of North Sumatra, Campus 2 USU Bekala-Deli Serdang. The Grave-Yard Test method was employed in the test, with data analysis using the independent t-test to find significant differences in board kinds. The data show that the weight reduction ranged from 2.59% to 96.02%. The best resistance achieved in this investigation was particle board with mahogany leaf litter material mixed with fibreglass at a 50/50 ratio. The use of a fibreglass combination has been shown to increase the resilience of particle board to termite attacks. According to the test results, using a fibreglass mixture has the potential to prevent particle board damage.en_US
