This research discusses directive speech acts in the preaching content of Sheikh
Sa'ad Asy Syatsri on the YouTube channel ShahihFiqih (pragmatic approach). The
aim is to determine the form and function of directive speech acts in the preaching content of Sheikh Sa'ad Asy Syatsri on the YouTube channel ShahihFiqih using Bach and Harnish's (1979) pragmatic theory. This study is a library research study. Using a descriptive analysis method, data collection was carried out by listeningto and recording directive speech in the ShahihFiqih YouTube channel. The results of this study show that 32 utterances were found based on their form and function.
Based on their form and function, the researcher found 32 data points, namely 4
instances of directive speech acts in the form of requests, functioning as sentences
of asking, begging, and inviting. There were 8 instances of directive speech acts in
the form of commands, functioning as sentences of ordering and directing. There
were 3 instances of directive speech acts in the form of giving permission, functioning as sentences of allowing and permitting. There were 7 prohibitive speech acts, functioning as sentences prohibiting. There were 6 interrogative speech acts, functioning as sentences asking questions and interrogating. There were 4 advisory speech acts, functioning as sentences giving advice.
