| dc.description.abstract | There are often conflicts between humans and Sumatran orangutans in Sampe Raya Village, which is a buffer village of Gunung Leuser National Park. The increase in conflict incidents is certainly very detrimental to the community and wildlife, so efforts to handle conflicts are needed. This study aims to find out how the public perception of Sumatran orangutans and to find out the value of economic losses experienced due to the Sumatran orangutan conflict. The collection of public perception data through interviews and questionnaires was carried out by census method to as many as 15 heads of families with criteria including respondent characteristics and community knowledge, analysis of Sumatran Orangutans. Based on the perception analysis, the perception score of the community in Sampe Raya Village towards P. abelii was included in the positive category. The community is aware that the entry of orangutans into plantation areas is due to a lack of food sources and changes in forest ecosystems, forcing them to destroy crops belonging to the community. The total calculation of the value of the harvest if there is no conflict of Sumatran Orangutans on the agricultural land of the Sampe Raya Village community is Rp. 132,568,000, while the value of the harvest in the event of a Sumatran Orangutan conflict experienced by all respondents is Rp 92,476,000. The difference between the value obtained from the value of the price of the crop if there is no conflict (A) and the value of the price of the crop in the event of a conflict (B), then the value of the loss is obtained with the value of A – B of Rp. 40,092,000. | en_US |
