    Abstract
ABDI KURNIAWAN PRATAMA. The Effect of Adhesive Type on the Quality of Maggot Flour-Based Pellets (Hermetia Illucens). (Supervised by ADE TRISNA and GALIH ARI WIRAWAN SIREGAR). Maggots or Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae have high protein content and complete essential and non-essential amino acids. Maggots can be used as an alternative animal feed because they have a fairly high protein content. One way to utilize maggots as animal feed is to modify maggots into pellets. Pellets are the result of modifying feed in the form of mash that is mixed evenly which is produced by pressing the pellet machine to make it harder. This research was conducted in February 2025 at the Laboratory of Feed Science and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra. The design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment consisted of giving various types of adhesives (P0 = without adhesive; P1 = tapioca flour; P2 = sago flour; P3 = bentonite; P4 = gelatin). The parameters observed were water content, specific gravity, pile density, pile angle and impact resistance. The results showed that the addition of tapioca starch, sago starch, bentonite and gelatin adhesives had a significant effect (P<0.01) on specific gravity, bulk density, angle of repose and impact resistance, but had no significant effect on pellet moisture content. Based on the research results, the best adhesive was obtained in P4, namely gelatin, which was able to reduce moisture content, angle of repose, bulk density and impact resistance. The best specific gravity was obtained in P2 with tapioca flour adhesive and P3 with sago flour adhesive.
