Growth and Production of Wheat Grass Microgreens (Triticum aestivum L.) on Various Planting Media Compositions with the Application of NASA Liquid Organic Fertilizer
Abstract
YOGI PRATAMA. Growth and Production of Wheat Grass Microgreens (Triticum aestivum L.) on Various Planting Media Compositions with the Application of NASA Liquid Organic Fertilizer (Guided by NINI RAHMAWATI).
Wheat grass microgreens are one of the microgreens that are widely cultivated by the community, but the cultivation techniques carried out are not optimal, especially the use of the composition of planting media and improper nutrition. Therefore, it is necessary to use the right composition of planting media and providing proper nutrion in the form of NASA liquid organic fertilizer. This research aims to increase the growth and production of wheat grass microgreens with the composition of planting media and the application of liquid organic fertilizer by NASA. This research was carried out at the Seed Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, Medan with an altitude of ± 25 meters above sea level. This research will be carried out in August 2025 until it is completed. This study uses a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 2 factors. The first factor is the composition of the planting medium (top soil (100%), (top soil (75%) + husk charcoal (25%), and top soil (75%) + cocopeat (25%)) and the second factor is NASA liquid organic fertilizer (0 ml/l, 5 ml/l, 10 ml/l and 15 ml/l). The composition of treatment top soil 75 % + husk charcoal 25% had a real effect on increasing plant height, fresh crown weight, crown and root fresh weight ratio and harvest index. Treatment top soil 75 % + cocopeat 25% had a real effect on increasing plant height and root fresh weight compared to other planting media compositions. The application of liquid organic fertilizer NASA has a real effect on increasing the fresh weight of the crown. NASA's best liquid organic fertilizer concentration is 10 ml/L compared to other concentrations. The interaction between the composition of the planting medium and the application of liquid organic fertilizer by NASA had an intangible effect on all observation parameters.
