This study aims to analyze the forms and causal factors of code-mixing found in the lyrics of Color of Love, a song performed by the South Korean girl group Red Velvet. The song is one of the tracks on the Bloom album, released in 2022. Code-mixing is a linguistic phenomenon that frequently occurs in bilingual communities, where individuals use two or more languages in their daily lives. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with the data consisting of song lyrics obtained from the music platform Spotify and presented narratively. Data collection was conducted using the observation method, which involved examining the use of language in the lyrics through attentive listening. The findings reveal a total of 11 instances of code-mixing, consisting of 6 cases of word insertion, 4 cases of phrase insertion, and 3 cases of clause insertion. The most dominant element in the code-mixing found in the lyrics of Color of Love is the use of nouns. The factors contributing to the occurrence of code-mixing include informal communication contexts, the background of the lyricist, and both artistic and commercial motives, such as the desire to create a modern impression and attract listeners to purchase Red Velvet’s album.
