| dc.description.abstract | This study discusses the form of maternal intervention towards daughters and the
interpersonal conflicts that arise in Luo Luo's film The Last Woman Standing. In
Chinese society, which is still strongly influenced by the patriarchal system,
marriage is considered a social obligation for women. This film represents social
pressure through the character of the mother who urges her daughter to get married
immediately. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with content
analysis. In addition, this study uses Nancy Chodorow's feminist theory to provide
an understanding of the role of mothers as agents of patriarchy who spread
conventional gender values. The results show that maternal intervention in this film
occurs not only verbally but also through subtle and continuous emotional and
psychological control. Conflict between mothers and daughters arises as a result of
this intervention, which is reflected in the tension between the desire for individual
freedom and conventional values. This study finds that maternal intervention in
patriarchal societies is not only a form of affection but also reflects social pressure
that is passed down through intergenerational family relationships. | en_US |
