    Pengaruh Pemberian Pupuk Nitrogen dan Pemangkasan Pucuk terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Produksi Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabis L.)

    Abstract
    Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman penghasil serat yang berpotensi dibudidayakan di Indonesia. Kebutuhan serat alam di Indonesia cukup besar, tercermin dari tingginya nilai impor serat. Untuk mendukung peningkatan produksi serat nasional, diperlukan sistem budidaya kenaf yang lebih optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian pupuk nitrogen (80, 160, 240 kg/ha) dan pemangkasan pucuk terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi kenaf. Penelitian dilaksanakan di lahan Bunga Sedap Malam, Kota Medan, pada bulan Agustus hingga Desember 2022 dengan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok faktorial yang terdiri atas dua faktor perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pupuk nitrogen dan pemangkasan pucuk memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi kenaf. Pupuk nitrogen mampu meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, umur panen, panjang batang tanpa daun, bobot batang siap olah, bobot basah serat, bobot kering serat, bobot basah akar, bobot kering akar, rasio tajuk-akar, indeks panen, dan efisiensi hasil. Pemangkasan pucuk juga terbukti meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, umur berbunga, umur panen, serta komponen hasil lainnya.
     
    Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) is one of the fiber-producing plants that has great potential for cultivation in Indonesia. The demand for natural fibers in Indonesia is high, as reflected by significant import volumes. To support increased national fiber production, an improved kenaf cultivation system is required. This study aimed to determine the effects of nitrogen fertilizer application (80, 160, and 240 kg/ha) and shoot pruning on the growth and production of kenaf. The experiment was conducted in Bunga Sedap Malam, Medan City, from August to December 2022, using a factorial randomized block design with two treatment factors.The results showed that nitrogen fertilizer application and shoot pruning had significant effects on kenaf growth and production. Nitrogen fertilizer increased plant height, leaf number, harvest age, leafless stem length, process-ready stem weight, wet fiber weight, dry fiber weight, wet root weight, dry root weight, shoot-to-root ratio, harvest index, and yield efficiency. Shoot pruning also enhanced plant height, leaf number, flowering age, harvest age, and other yield components.
