Analisis Karakteristik dan Perubahan Makna Gairaigo dalam Komik YOTSUBA TO Volume 1-2 Karya Kiyohiko Azuma

Abstract

This research discusses the characteristics and meaning changes of gairaigo in Yotsuba to comics by Kiyohiko Azuma. The purpose of this study is to describe the characteristics of gairaigo and changes in the meaning of gairaigo. The theories used in this research are semantic theory and meaning of gairaigo . The method used in this research is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach because the purpose of this study is to provide a description of a phenomenon using words rather than numbers. The results of this study show that there are gairaigo consisting of gairaigo characteristic words that experience shortening such as the words (テレビ) terebi (リ モコン) rimokon and (プロ) puro. Then, it shows the change of meaning gairaigo (ス イッチ) suicchi, (クーラー)kuuraa, (アイス) aisu, (マジック) majikku, the verb sensu (センス) puroguramu (プログラム), and maniakku (マニアック). Some of the data are gairaigo with expanded meaning and gairaigo with narrowed meaning.
