    Abstract
Grains are the seeds and fruits of cereal grasses, often referred to as “kernels.” Grains are efficient at converting sunlight, fertilizer, water, and air into macronutrients. The end product is a seed that is durable and can be stored for long periods of time. Because grains evolved to survive from season to season, we cannot digest them raw. Grains must be flaked, cracked, puffed, cracked or ground before consumption. In order to maintain the effectiveness of the seeds, one of the treatments that is carried out is by drying. The test results explain the difference in temperature and time where the variation creates different water content results. Defining that if the lower the temperature and the faster the time set, the water content obtained will be greater, and if the set temperature is higher and the time is longer, the results will be smaller, until the water content of the material reaches the provisions. This study aims to test the time variation of 30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 60 minutes, and with temperature variations of 45ºC, 50ºC, and 55ºC. on a grain dryer on the effect of the parameters of the effective capacity of the tool, drying rate, material water content, Break Event Point (BEP), Net Present Value (NPV), and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). The results of this study produced a time variation of 30, 45, 60 minutes and a temperature of 45⁰, 50⁰, 55⁰ producing the highest effective capacity of the tool, namely 2,93 kg / hour and the lowest 2,49 kg / hour. The water content of the material has the highest degree of 24,07⁰, and the lowest is 13,26⁰ and for the drying rate obtained the highest value of 48,13 Kg / hour and the lowest is 13,41 Kg / hour. This tool has a Break Even Point (BEP) of Rp. 840 kg/year, net present value (NPV) of Rp. 26.898.814/year from NPV interest rate of 5% and Rp. 25.959.058/year from NPV interest rate of 8%, and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) reaches 8,86%.
