This study aims to determine the effect of growing medium composition and liquid organic fertilizer on the growth of red amaranth microgreens (Amaranthus tricolor L.). The research was conducted at the Seed Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, Medan, at an altitude of ± 32 meters above sea level from May to June 2024. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial with two factors: Factor I: Planting medium composition with three levels, namely: 100% topsoil, 100% sand, 50% topsoil + 50% sand, and Factor II: Liquid organic fertilizer concentration with four levels: 0 l/ha (control), 12.5 l/ha, 25 l/ha, and 37.5 l/ha. The results showed that the best growing medium was sand in terms of plant height, root length, and dry weight. The best POC concentration was found in the 37.5 l/ha treatment for the root length parameter. The interaction between growing medium and POC concentration had a significant effect on the fresh weight parameter, with the best fresh weight found in the topsoil + sand growing medium treatment given POC at a concentration of 37.5 l/ha.
