Dynamics of Social Interaction in the Ad-hoc Body of the Medan City KPU: An Anthropological Analysis of the PPS
Abstract
This research aims to analyze the dynamics of social interaction that occur
within the Polling Committee (PPS) as an ad-hoc body of the General Elections
Commission (KPU) in Medan Selayang District. Preliminary findings indicate that
local identity, social capital, and cultural values play a significant role in shaping
how PPS members respond to various challenges. Furthermore, anthropological
aspects such as social structure, community values, and dimensions of spirituality
also contribute to the formation of work patterns and organizational ethics.
This study employs a qualitative research method using typical
anthropological data collection techniques, including participant observation, indepth interviews, and documentation, in order to obtain a comprehensive
understanding of the actual conditions in the field. The results of the study also
show that one of the strategies used by PPS members to address issues during the
election stages is by utilizing their existing social capitalsuc h as local wisdom and
the charismatic identity of certain members as a means of conflict management.
