Alan Pratama Simangunsong.

Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L) is an alternative food crop that plays an important role in the Indonesian economy because it contains carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. However, sweet potato production has decreased every year, one of the causes being the attack of boleng pests (Cylus formicarius) which can cause yield losses of up to 90%. This study aims to measure the resistance of six sweet potato varieties (purple beet, Japanese, Taiwanese, Cilembu, Bolu) to boleng pest attacks. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. The parameters observed included the population of larvae, pupae, imago, percentage of weight loss, and attack intensity. The results showed that the Japanese variety had the highest imago population (4.71), while the carrot variety experienced the highest weight loss (5.44%) and the highest attack intensity along with the Taiwanese variety (50%). The Cilembu variety showed the highest resistance to pest attacks.
